Beginnings of The Cory Family Tradition
Shane's parents, Phillip & Angelica Cory, both commercial hot air balloon pilots, had their
first hot air balloon "adventure" in 1973. Launching their Great Pumpkin in the desert behind
their Mesa, AZ residence began a marvelous adventure, later evolving into a family legacy.
A Pioneer in Arizona Hot Air Balloons
In 1974 Douglas Cory of Flagstaff, AZ was the first member of the Cory family and one of the
first people in the State of Arizona to actually purchase a Hot Air Balloon. He is now the
current owner of Northern Lights Balloon Expeditions of Sedona, Arizona.
Shane Cory, Born Under A Different Sign
Once Phil & Angelica Cory were struck with the magic of the sport they bought their first
corporate hot air balloon "The Cory Bubble", [Cory Gasoline Stations, Inc.], which arrived on
the day of Shane's birth in 1976.
Starting His Hot Air Balloon Adventures Early
Shane was initiated with his first hot air balloon ride at the age of 2 weeks old, beginning a
legacy that would span 2 generations with a perfect safety record, the best in the whole
State of Arizona.
Corporate Hot Air Balloon Adventures
Cory Bubble Balloons, piloted by Phillip Cory, followed in his brother's footsteps as one of
the first commercial hot air balloon ride companies in Arizona. His skill enabled him to
become much sought-after to fly thousands of passengers and train dozens of today's
current pilots. Cory Bubble Balloons specialized in exclusive balloon flights for VIP's, CEO's
and Hollywood celebrities.
The Cory's Gain Renown as Hot Air Balloonists
Gaining great recognition as a commercial balloon pilot, Phillip Cory found himself being
offered numerous corporate advertising contracts; some of the more prestigious hot air
balloon, & the Toyota hot air balloon.
Carrying on a Family Legacy of Hot Air Ballooning
By the time he was 18 years old, Shane Douglas Cory had become a seasoned balloonist,
and began his 'lighter-than-air' pilot training. By age 23, Shane had secured his commercial
pilots certificate and began flying as a hired pilot for Cory Bubble Hot Air Ballooning as well
as several other local companies.
Shane Cory Takes Over the Hot Air Ballooning Tradition
In year 2000, Shane over took ownership of Cory Bubble Ballooning (now doing
business as Aerogelic Ballooning), and dedicated himself to taking Aerogelic/Cory Bubble
Ballooning's tradition of safety and excellence into the new millenium.
